The Frederica Performance Center is located adjacent to the Club's practice facility that Tom Fazio once described as "one of the best in the country." The center offers a full array of services, including indoor teaching bays, computer-based swing analysis, a launch monitor, and club fitting & repair. It has been recognized by Golf Digest as one of the best golf academies in the country.

|  | VJ is a nationally recognized PGA Professional who served as Director of Instruction at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, for more than two decades. Over the course of his career, VJ has earned numerous honors, including four PGA Section Teacher of the Year awards, two PGA Section Player Development Awards, and three PGA Youth Development Awards. In 2014, he was named to Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Instructors in America. His experience also includes presenting at the Swedish PGA Teaching and Coaching Summit, co-inventing the Putting Arc training aid, authoring instructional books—most notably Only One Shot—and co-founding the Only One Shot podcast alongside Jim Gallagher Jr. VJ's students have achieved significant success, including USGA semifinal and final appearances, victories on both the PGA and LPGA Tours, and 24 Division I college commitments.
VJ is passionate about helping golfers of all ages reach their full potential. His comprehensive, results-driven approach blends on-course playing sessions, private instruction, and structured practice into a uniquely tailored development experience.
He and his wife, Allison, have two sons: Cohen and Collins, both members of the Ole Miss golf team. VJ joined Frederica Golf Club in 2025 and continues to be recognized as one of America’s Top 100 Golf Instructors.

|  | Joey is a Petoskey, Michigan native whose golf career has been defined by standout achievements from an early age. A two-time Mr. Golf in Michigan, he remains the only player to capture both the Michigan Junior Amateur and Michigan Amateur titles in the same year.
He began his collegiate career at the University of Michigan before transferring to the University of Georgia, where he became team captain and spent much of his senior season ranked No. 1 in both the Golfweek and Golfstat individual rankings. Joey turned professional in 2014 and went on to compete in 149 Korn Ferry Tour events and 29 PGA Tour events. In March 2025, he joined the staff at Frederica Golf Club.
Since 2014, Joey has called St. Simons Island home, where he lives with his wife, Victoria, and their three children: Blakely, Pierson, and Campbell.

| A native of Laurel, Maryland, Nick pursued his passion for the game through the PGA Golf Management program at Campbell University. During his time in the industry, he gained valuable experience at several premier clubs, including Manufacturers' Country Club, Sebonack Golf Club, and Brae Burn Country Club.
Nick has developed a strong foundation in golf instruction, studying under renowned coach David Orr at Campbell and continuing to learn from top professionals throughout his career. After graduating in December 2020, he was elected to PGA Membership in February 2021. Nick has served as Assistant Golf Professional at Hillendale Country Club in Phoenix, Maryland, and has spent multiple summer seasons as First Assistant Golf Professional at Hay Harbor Club in Fishers Island, New York. He joined Frederica Golf Club's Performance Center in 2021.

BRIAN PAXTON PT, DPT, Director of Fitness & Wellness |  | A native of the Golden Isles, Dr. Paxton has built an accomplished career centered on human movement and injury rehabilitation. In 2004, he earned his clinical doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, with a specialization in Paris Manual Therapy.
Throughout his career, Dr. Paxton has worked with a wide range of professional and elite athletes, including those from the NFL, WTA/USTA, PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and numerous Division I programs. He also served as Director of Health and Wellness for the 2023 United States Martial Arts Team.
Over the past 20 years, Dr. Paxton has trained under and been mentored by leading experts in performance and rehabilitation, developing a broad and highly refined skill set. His expertise spans advanced manual therapy techniques, applied biomechanics, and human performance optimization. With a comprehensive and individualized approach, he is dedicated to helping clients and athletes move efficiently, perform at their highest level, and maintain long-term physical health—whether in competition, recreation, or everyday life.
